We had a carless family walking holiday stay at the Ibis which is well situated for public transport. The Ibis is near the shopping area of Marketown, within the city free transport area, the new Newcastle train station is about 500 yards away, the Stockton ferry about 25 minutes walk along the Hunter river and bus stops nearby for both transport into the city and to all localities outside the city. The hotel itself is of a good quality as you would expect of a 3*. There was a good selection of food a breakfast. The hotel staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful...going that extra yard to make the stay enjoyable. We were able to maximise the benefits of public transport with the use of the Opal card doing A to B walks mainly along the coastal areas Stockton and Swansea beaches even taking in the final section of the Great North Walk from Charlestown to Newcastle. There is a lot of construction going on in the city area and when this is completed the Newcastle experience will be even more enhanced.

We have a 1 nite stopover from Port Stephens and the hotel is very centrally located. The front office staff was very friendly and we checked in with no problem at all. It is a small hotel after all but it is still clean and i like the toilet cubicle..very cool.. altho it may posed a space problem for someone big in size. The bed was comfortable and equipped with complimentary drinks. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and its amazing the front office staff double up as service staff too taking food orders. We used our complimentary drink vouchers to go with our meal and it was really good and the food was good too, For a small hotel, I do not expect a big spread of breakfast but it serves its purpose and I am happy with it. The small croissants which came out fresh from the oven was soo good that I have 4 pieces.. Also we meet the Nepalese room cleaners and they were very friendly and courteous.. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend anyone who needs a great stop over.

A great little Ibis in the heart of Newcastle's main street. You can walk anywhere from the hotel down to the waterfront bars and along the harbour foreshore. Rooms are standard for an Ibis but are very comfortable and clean. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. A great value for money hotel.

Warm, friendly, informative staff. Clean tidy rooms. Excellent light meals. Central Newcastle. Easy access to other parts of Newcastle. Only problem is the noise on the Saturday night. Lots of young people playing loud music before they head out for the night.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was the standard Ibis room with Queen bed and bathroom - very clean. The only negative is a safety issue with water from the shower flooding the bathroom and making the floor very slippery.

Well located, easy walk to local shops, pubs and restaurants. On the main road, but surprisingly quite. Clean and comfortable with very friendly and professional staff. Standards were better than I expected for a budget hotel. Happy to stay there again anytime.

Stayed there a couple of times over a few weeks the first time was fantastic and I had no real problems The second time we stayed the room was definetly not as clean the bathroom had hair all through it and I had a flickering light that I advised to the hotel staff 15 mins after checkin that was still not fixed 3 days later when we left I would stay there again it's good value oh and the food is good aswell

My stay was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location was ideal for me. And it was good value for money. The room was tidy and adequate. Ideally, would have preferred more channel options on the Television. I look forward to staying there on my next trip.

IBIS Newcastle is great value in a great location and the practical, clean and tidy rooms have everything your need. Staff are super efficient and friendly. On site parking is great for people who travel from Sydney for work.

Knew that we were going to arrive quite late at night, reception called to assure our room during the day. Arrived at 11:15pm and had a hassle free and fast check in. Quality breakfast. Fast checkout.

Stayed a few nights on business trip and I have no complaints. Plenty of parking the staff are very friendly and the breakfast very good, spoilt for choice. I always try and book through Ibis when in Newcastle.

The dinning was 1st class including breakfast service is very good the only problem is small regarding car parking is open not good in rain. The hotel is great we have now booked at ibis style Canberra for 3 nights 3/3/4/April

Everything was great but the room smelt a little of smoke. I did mention this to staff, my friend also thought the same. The staff were nice and the location was fabulous, I would stay there again but on a different floor so the smell of smoke isnt present.

Ridiculously overpriced for the room we were given and then when checking out we are informed that parking is not included with our room and incurs an additional $15 charge. The parking wasn't even under cover! The staff working on the front desk were lovely though!

The staff were nothing but attentive and couldn't,t do enough for you The breakfast was great and always being topped up so very fresh Close to honeysuckle and restaurants Only complaint being the air conditioning unit continually sounded like water was running though it so kept everyone awake obviously needs some serious attentions and we had 3 rooms and was the same in all rooms

Awsome stay close to town food drink etc, great value for money as well. good parking which can be a hassle at times. being able to walk from town safely was a huge bonus not like Sydney where you dare to walk home.

A very comfortable motel. The bathrooms are very well appointed. Bed was very comfortable and Bar was welcoming. Only negative comment was the glasses in the bar were somewhat dirty with stains on them.

Room looking tired and tatty, with chipped furniture, grimy paintwork, a crooked toilet seat and a bathroom panel coming away from the wall. On first morning of a four night stay, one of the bathroom lights started flickering, this was reported to reception staff at breakfast time. It took a second request mid afternoon for the bathroom light to be fixed. While minor repairs are a part of staying in a hotel, this situation reflected the lack of experience and customer service skills of the reception staff in dealing with issues in a timely manner.

The online booking system did not update with changes I made with the hotel directly. There was confusion in the car park where a car was restricting access to the only area of the car park which has spare parking places. The young hotel staff tried to unlock a cable which was blocking as alternate entrance and spent a long time trying to find the right key. The carpet on Level 4 corridors floor was dirty and in desperate need of a good vacuum. The room was clean and tidy but a little small and the furnishings looked tired. Breakfast was quite good but the croissants and pastries were a little stale. Check-in staff were young and eager but need more experience or more supervision.
